Launched for 2013 and refreshed mid-cycle, the ninth-generation Honda Accord pushed the long-running nameplate further up-market, becoming Honda’s sole global Accord after the smaller European/Japanese version bowed out in 2015.
Generations & Market Shift
Introduced for the 2013 model year, the ninth-gen Accord consolidated Honda’s mid-size line-up. When the narrower European and Japanese Accord ended production in 2015, the larger North-American-derived body took over, with the Hybrid now serving as Honda’s flagship sedan in several former compact-Accord markets.
Design & Dimensions
The 2016 facelift delivered a sharper front fascia, new grille, LED head- and tail-lamps, and fresh alloy-wheel patterns. Measuring 4935 mm long, 1850 mm wide and 1465 mm tall, the sedan kept conservative proportions while improving aerodynamics over its predecessor.
Global Role
By unifying regional Accord versions, Honda streamlined manufacturing and marketing. As the only Accord in production, this generation became the default executive sedan for Africa, Latin America and parts of Asia, while the Hybrid variant carried technology previously reserved for the discontinued Acura TL.
