Released in 1976 and running until 1979, the Ford XC Falcon closed out the third-generation Falcon range and bridged the gap between the XB and the upcoming XD redesign. Its broad stance—1900 mm across—delivered big-car presence, while luxury buyers could step up to the Fairmont variant.

Ford Australia rolled out the XC Falcon in mid-1976, continuing annual model updates through 1979. Positioned as the final refresh before an all-new platform, the XC gave buyers the familiarity of the existing chassis while Ford prepared the groundbreaking XD.
Design and Dimensions
Measuring 1900 mm wide and standing 1369 mm tall, the XC carried a larger footprint than many contemporaries, underlining its full-size family-car mission. Front-end styling revisions—clear white indicator lenses and revised grilles—differentiated it from the XB, while the Fairmont (XC) added extra brightwork and plusher trim.
Generations and Successor
The XC marked the third and last revision of the third-generation Falcon architecture. When production ceased in 1979, the lighter, European-influenced XD Falcon took over, leaving the XC as the final evolution of the ‘70s three-box Falcon shape.
