Between 2005 and 2008, the Ford BF Falcon wrapped up the sixth-generation run of Australia’s rear-drive full-size staple, adding a final facelift and wagon stretch-through to 2010.
Last Hurrah of the Sixth Gen
The BF arrived as a subtle mid-cycle refresh of the BA, polishing aerodynamics, trim levels and electronics rather than reinventing the platform. Its longevity was clearest in the station-wagon line, which quietly rolled on from Broadmeadows until late 2010 while the sedan, ute and long-wheelbase derivatives gave way to the all-new FG that same year.
Design & Equipment
Subtly reprofiled bumpers, new head- and tail-lamp graphics, clearer instruments and upgraded audio headlined the visual tweaks. Higher-series variants gained better sound-deadening, dual-zone climate control and later Bluetooth integration, bridging the gap to newer rivals without a ground-up redesign.
Market Positioning
Positioned between the outgoing BA and the incoming FG, the BF offered a cheaper, proven rear-drive package for fleet and private buyers wary of early-adopter costs. By lingering in wagon form until 2010, Ford kept the familiar family hauler on showroom floors even as sedan buyers shifted to the seventh generation.
