Unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in February 2006, the 599 GTB Fiorano was Ferrari’s answer to a changing grand-tourer landscape, debuting as the 2007 model-year replacement for the 575M Maranello.
Design & Dimensions
Built on a 4665 mm long, 1962 mm wide footprint that stands just 1336 mm high, the 599 carries a kerb weight of 1688 kg. The proportions package a front-mounted V12 behind the front axle, employing an all-aluminium chassis and body panels designed with Pininfarina to balance aerodynamic efficiency with the long-bonnet grand-tourer silhouette.
Performance
Production models achieved a factory-quoted 330 km/h top speed, making the 599 one of the fastest road-going Ferraris at launch. Drive is sent exclusively to the rear wheels via Ferrari’s F1-SuperFast automated manual transmission, an evolution of the single-clutch sequential design introduced on the 575.
Generations
The 599 family expanded throughout its six-year run with the HGTE handling pack (2008), the track-focused 599 GTO (2010), and the open-roof 599 SA Aperta (2010–11). The entire line bowed out after the 2012 model year, when the F12berlinetta assumed its place as Ferrari’s front-engine V12 flagship.
