Daihatsu Taft (LA900)

ისტორია

დიზაინი

Unveiled at the 2020 Tokyo Auto Salon and on sale by June 2020, the LA900 series Daihatsu Taft revives an old badge as a crossover-flavoured kei car built on the company’s new DNGA platform, replacing the Cast range.
History
The Taft name returned after a two-decade absence, first previewed as a Tokyo Auto Salon prototype in January 2020. By dropping the Cast Activa and Cast Sport variants, Daihatsu consolidated its kei-SUV lineup into a single Taft range while downsizing overall model complexity.
Design
At 3 395 mm long, 1 475 mm wide and 1 630 mm tall, the Taft packs classic boxy SUV cues—upright grille, squared wheel arches and two-tone paint—into the tightest kei-car footprint. A roof height below 1.65 m and panoramic greenhouse glass keep proportions balanced for city streets.
Engineering
Built on the DNGA modular platform, the 830 kg Taft couples a lightweight, high-rigidity frame with MacPherson front struts and a torsion-beam rear for ride comfort within kei-car regulations. Standard two-wheel drive and optional part-time 4WD cater to both urban and light off-road duties.
