Daihatsu Move Conte

Between 2008 and March 2017, Daihatsu produced the Move Conte, a deliberately angular take on Japan’s beloved kei-car formula that replaced the rounded Move Latte and seeded the lineage that would soon evolve into the Move Canbus.
Design & Concept
Daihatsu spun the Move Conte off the fourth-generation L175 Move, trading that car’s softer curves for crisp, straight-edged sheetmetal. Its unusually long bonnet and squared-off beltline gave the 3395 mm body a visual stretch, emphasising the retro "container" idea that inspired the Conte name.
Model Variants
Buyers chose between the standard Conte and the Custom model, whose roundel-stacked headlights and a tighter grille created a pseudo-vintage look popular with urban drivers. Both rode on the same 1475 mm width and 1640 mm height footprint, yet the Custom’s blacked-out detailing lent a sportier stance.
Kei-Car Fit
With a minimum weight of 820 kg—feather-light even by kei standards—the Move Conte stayed inside the strict 660 cc power-caps, keeping registration and tax advantages intact while packing clever packaging tricks like tall seating and wide-opening doors for maximum cabin space.
2008–2017 Run
Production ran from 2008 until 2016, with dealer stock cleared until March 2017. Directly following the Move Latte, the Conte handed the torch to the even more design-focused Move Canbus that emerged later in 2016, closing one of Daihatsu’s most stylistically experimental kei chapters.
