BMW 1 Series

BMW reinvented its smallest model for 2011 with the F20 and three-door F21, moving the compact 1 Series further up-market while keeping its rear-wheel-drive layout intact.
Generations
The F20/F21 marks the second 1 Series generation, succeeding the E87 hatch and carrying the torch from 2011 to 2019. Available in both five- and three-door body styles, it held the line until the third-generation (F40) arrived.
Design
External dimensions stayed city-friendly: at just 1 765 mm across, the F20 was no wider than many B-segment cars, yet BMW managed to retain its traditional long-hood, short-deck proportions and typical Hofmeister kink.
