Aston Martin Vanquish

Introduced in 2001, the Aston Martin Vanquish took over from the Virage to become the marque’s flagship sports car, bridging the gap between the earlier DBS V12 and the later DBS Superleggera. Its blend of muscular styling and high-speed refinement set a new template for 21st-century Aston grand tourers.
Design & Dimensions
With a compact 4 665 mm overall length and a purposeful 1 912 mm width, the Vanquish’s proportions were wider and more planted than the outgoing Virage, signalling the shift toward a more aggressive GT stance. Sculpted haunches and a steeply raked roofline quickly became visual signatures that carried into subsequent Aston Martin models.
Position in the Line-up
The Vanquish arrived as the direct successor to the Virage (1993) and remained atop the range until it was itself succeeded by the DBS V12 in 2007. In 2018, Aston Martin revived the Vanquish model name on a new platform, but the original 2001–2018 generation is now the definitive reference point between the first DBS generation and the contemporary DBS Superleggera.
