Unveiled in September 2023 and rolling out of the Wuhan plant in 2024, the Lotus Emeya becomes the British marque’s first electric grand-tourer and only the second fully electric model to wear the Lotus badge.
Introduction & Positioning
Lotus introduced Emeya on 7 September 2023, marketing it as a “hyper GT” aimed directly at the Porsche Taycan, Tesla Model S, Lucid Air and Audi e-tron GT segment. It slots alongside the Eletre SUV and the low-volume Evija hypercar, giving Lotus a three-model EV lineup after decades of lightweight petrol sports cars.
Design & Layout
The Emeya employs a five-door liftback silhouette on an extended wheelbase, creating a stretched, road-hugging profile that echoes classic grand tourers. Inside, a flat-floor battery architecture frees rear footwell space, while the panoramic glass roof stretches from windscreen to rear hatch.
Production & Market
Production began in 2024 at Lotus’s Geely-owned facility in Wuhan, China—the same plant that builds the Eletre SUV. Distribution launched first in Europe and China, with North-American deliveries planned for late 2024.
