Lexus RC

Launched in 2014, the Lexus RC filled the compact-executive-coupe gap that opened when the IS sedan moved to its third generation. It blended the IS chassis up front with a shortened GS rear sub-frame, creating a dedicated two-door that competes directly with the BMW 4 Series and Audi A5.
Mechanical Layout
Engineers built the RC on a fusion platform: IS front suspension, GS rear end, and unique rear-wheel-drive geometry. The result is a 2 710 mm wheelbase shortened by 76 mm compared with the IS sedan, wrapped in dimensions of 4 710 mm long, 1 845 mm wide, and 1 395 mm tall.
Position in the Model Range
As the direct successor to the IS (XE20) in coupe form, the RC sits beneath the larger RC F performance variant while offering turbo-four, V6, and hybrid power for global markets. A convertible version arrived later as the RC C, though in very limited numbers.
Legacy
The RC established Lexus’s modern two-door identity, bringing the spindle grille and L-motif lighting to the compact-executive segment. It remains one of the few coupes in its class still offered with both rear-wheel and all-wheel drive across multiple powertrains.
