Unveiled at the 2006 North American International Auto Show, the Lamborghini Miura Concept is a one-off tribute that revives the unmistakable lines of the 1966 Miura exactly four decades after the original shook the Geneva Motor Show. Conceived purely as a styling exercise, it previewed Lamborghini’s ability to look backward while still pushing boundaries.
Design Inspiration
Sharp shoulder scoops, a near-horizontal nose, and signature six-eye headlamps replicate the first Miura’s proportions, stretched to 4590 mm long and only 1200 mm tall. The entire body was hand-finished over the Murciélago’s carbon-fiber tub, keeping dry weight at 1490 kg despite modern crash structures.
Engineering Brief
While the chassis comes from the Murciélago, Lamborgihni never installed the planned V12, leaving the show car as a non-runner. Without cooling or exhaust routing, the engine bay remains sealed, prioritizing aesthetic purity over drivability.
Legacy and Influence
Displayed only at Detroit 2006 and later at Pebble Beach, the concept convinced Lamborghini that retro themes had a future—elements later echoed in the 2016 Centenario’s graphics. It also bolstered collector enthusiasm for original Miuras, whose values rose sharply after the tribute appeared.
