Lamborghini’s Lanzador concept was announced as the marque’s first all-electric series model, earmarked for production in 2028 until, in 2026, the program was shelved in favor of a hybrid strategy.
Product Plan
Unveiled as a design study and near-production prototype, Lanzador was meant to launch Lamborghini into the EV era with 2028 as the sales start date. Two years ahead of that target, the company scrapped full electrification and repositioned the project as the basis for a hybrid variant.
Design & Positioning
While hard technical specs were never released, the concept displayed the dramatic proportions and low-slung stance expected of Lamborghini—packaging battery hardware without the mid-mounted V10 or V12 layout that defines the brand’s current coupes.
Era-Defining Pivot
Its cancellation in 2026 marks a clear inflection point for Lamborghini, confirming that the roaring nat-asp engines and even plug-in hybrids will carry the badge through the decade, while full EV strategy is delayed.
