Lamborghini turned a half-century dream into metal with the Countach LPI 800-4, a retro-styled hybrid unveiled on 14 August 2021 to pay homage to the original 1971 Countach. Just 112 examples were built, matching the LP 112 prototype codename of the first-age design.
Genesis
Design chief Mitja Borkert re-imagined the classic wedge silhouette for the hybrid era, stretching the Sián FKP 37 architecture to a 4 870 mm length while shaving height to just 1 139 mm. The result is a modern carbon-fiber sculpture that reads as a Countach at 200 paces yet complies with 2021 regulations.
Hybrid Powertrain
Under the hexagonal glass, the LPI 800-4 borrows the Sián’s supercapacitor-enhanced V12 hybrid system. While total output isn’t disclosed in the source, the same Sián hardware delivers 819 PS in its sibling, hinting at similar thrust sent to an all-wheel-drive system denoted by the “4” suffix.
Production & Rarity
Lamborghini capped build at 112 cars, a wink to the development codename LP 112 used by engineers in the 1970s. Every LPI 800-4 was pre-allocated to collectors within hours of the August 2021 reveal, making the model an instant category of one rather than a regular-series offering.
