Originally spun off from the Civic line, the Japan-market Honda Shuttle was a long-roof, station-wagon style derivative that sat between the Civic it evolved from and the later Honda Stream MPV that replaced it. With almost 4.8 m of body length and modest ground clearance, it offered more cargo flexibility without abandoning conventional passenger-car roots.
Design & Dimensions
The Shuttle packaged Civic mechanicals inside a stretched, tall-boy form factor: 4 755 mm long, 1 793 mm wide and 1 641 mm high on an extended wheelbase. Its two-box silhouette maximised rear head- and luggage room while keeping overall mass to just 1 535 kg, near size-class norms.
Position in Honda’s Range
Acting as a wagon spin-off of the Civic, the Shuttle gave Honda buyers a lifestyle-oriented load carrier during the late 1990s. When customer tastes later shifted toward higher-seating MPVs, Honda phased out the Shuttle and launched the Stream to take its market slot.
Legacy
Although never formally exported far beyond Japan, the Shuttle foreshadowed the brand’s later fascination with versatile, compact-MPV packaging—a theme that would resurface strongly in the best-selling FR-V and Jade models.
