Since 2008, the Honda Freed has carved a niche as a mini MPV tailored specifically to Japanese urban families, slotting neatly between the Jazz and larger Honda vans. Built on the Fit/Jazz platform, it replaced the first-generation Mobilio while adding an extra layer of space efficiency and configurability.
Concept and Market Focus
Honda designed the Freed chiefly for Japanese city life, where tight streets and limited parking demand maximum interior space in minimal exterior dimensions. The model’s high roofline, boxy profile and sliding rear doors prioritise passenger egress and versatility over road presence.
Body Styles and Seating
Three regular seating layouts are offered: five-, seven-, or six-seat configurations, the latter featuring second-row captain’s chairs. Beyond the standard line-up, Honda supplies wheelchair-accessible variants plus models with side lift-up or passenger lift-up seats to cater to occupants with mobility constraints.
