Lincoln MKT

Replacing the body-on-frame Town Car as Lincoln’s large chauffeur base, the Lincoln MKT rolled out in 2010 as Ford’s three-row luxury crossover, quietly leaving the stage after the 2019 model year.
History
Lincoln introduced the MKT for 2010 as the modern successor to the Town Car in fleet and livery service while also courting retail buyers needing three rows of premium seating. Positioned between the mid-size MKX and the truck-based Navigator, the sole generation spanned the entire decade, disappearing from order sheets after 2019.
Design
With a 5.27-metre length and wide, squared-off stance, the MKT pushed cabin space to the fore. Chrome waterfall grille, twin-barrel headlamps, and a broad lift-gate underlined Lincoln’s visual language, while optional captain’s chairs and extended-length rear doors eased passenger access.
Platform & Engineering
Built on Ford’s transverse-engine D4 chassis, the MKT shared core architecture with the 2009–2019 Ford Flex and the 2011–2019 Ford Explorer. That unibody layout, paired with available all-wheel drive and twin-turbo EcoBoost V-6 powertrains, delivered a softer ride than the body-on-frame Town Car it replaced.
Legacy
Though retail sales remained modest, the MKT became a go-to choice for airport shuttles and upscale livery fleets, effectively continuing the Town Car’s service role on a more fuel-efficient, space-efficient platform. No direct successor today carries Lincoln’s full-size crossover niche.
