Genesis & Brief Run
The Mark III arrived in 1968 as a belated successor to the limited-production Continental Mark II of the mid-1950s. Lincoln produced the two-door hardtop solely for 1969—1971 before moving on to the Mark IV platform.
Design Hallmarks
From behind the prominent Rolls-Royce-inspired vertical grille, hidden headlights vanished when switched off, giving the Mark III a clean, unbroken front end. A functional continental-style spare tire hump echoed the Mark II heritage, while the sweeping 5.5-metre coupe profile rode on a 2-metre-plus width for a true American luxury stance.
Specifications
At 5.49 m long and more than 2.2 t curb weight, the Mark III was one of the largest coupes of its era. Exterior height of just 1.35 m underscored its low, road-dominant presence.
