Ford P7

Between autumn 1967 and December 1971, Ford Germany built the P7 series as its large-family saloon line. Marketed as the 17M, 20M and 26M, it immediately replaced the Taunus P5 and set the stage for the later European Granada.
History and Model Years
Production of the Ford P7 began in late 1967 at Ford’s German plants and continued through December 1971. Three badges—17M, 20M and 26M—hinted at the progressive engine sizes and trim families available throughout the run.
Design & Dimensions
The P7 adopted a crisp three-box silhouette popular in Europe’s executive segment and sat on a wider track than its Taunus P5 predecessor. Width was officially recorded at 1 756 mm, giving passengers extra shoulder room inside the generously proportioned cabin.
Transition to Ford Granada Europe
When production ceased after just four model years, the P7’s mechanical layout and market slot were directly translated into the brand-new Ford Granada Europe. The transition marked Ford Germany’s move from the Taunus numbering scheme to a unified European flagship nameplate.
