From 1992 to 2012 the full-size Ford Crown Victoria served as the biggest sedan in Ford's North-American range, inheriting the role once held by the LTD Crown Victoria and later replaced by the sixth-generation Ford Taurus. Its lasting presence on American roads owes as much to civilian buyers as it does to the highly popular Crown Victoria Police Interceptor variant.

Two distinct generations were produced: the first ran from the 1992 through 1997 model years, while the second and final iteration, notable for aerodynamic freshening and chassis refinements, carried on from 1998 to 2012. A long-wheelbase version specifically intended for taxi use was introduced for 2002 and continued alongside the standard sedan until 2011.
