History
Ford UK introduced the 7W Ten immediately after the Model C Ten, aiming to modernise its small-car offering ahead of more stringent 1930s regulations. The model’s two-year life ended when it was replaced by the significantly re-engineered Ford Prefect for the 1939 model year, limiting surviving numbers and cementing its rarity today.
Design and dimensions
The 7W used a compact 3 960 mm long, 1 448 mm wide and 1 600 mm tall body riding on an 810 kg chassis—dimensions close to its predecessor yet with cleaner, more rounded lines typical of late-1930s design. Compared with the taller, more angular Model C, the 7W appeared lower and more modern while retaining a traditional separate front grille and spatted rear wheels.
