Replacing the California T after a decade on sale, the Ferrari Portofino debuted at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show as Maranello’s fresh two-plus-two grand-tourer. It carries a retractable hard-top and the newest generation of Ferrari’s twin-turbo V8, putting 320 km/h directly within its open-air sights.
Design
Measuring 4,586 mm nose to tail, the Portofino presents a noticeably crisper fastback silhouette than its California predecessor. A folding aluminium roof stacks in just 14 seconds at up to 40 km/h, preserving luggage space Rear haunches swell out to 1,938 mm wide, while the driver sits 1,318 mm off the ground—a stance closer to the 488 GTB’s mid-engine feel than traditional front-engined layouts.
Performance
Behind the wide-mouth grille lies Ferrari’s 3.9-litre, twin-turbo V8 designated F154, here massaged for sharper throttle response and a 0–97 km/h sprint of 3.5 seconds. Power and torque figures go unlisted in the provided data, yet a 320 km/h top speed speaks to serious gearing and aerodynamic efficiency. Generations
Both visually and mechanically the Portofino is essentially generation two of Ferrari’s modern front-engined V8 family, stepping straight from the California and California T.
