Slotting into Ferrari’s V8 lineage as the track-focused evolution of the 488 GTB, the 488 Pista distills the Prancing Horse’s mid-engine formula into a lighter, sharper street-legal weapon debuted in 2018.
Design
Every external panel serves aerodynamics: a 20 % increase in downforce over the 488 GTB comes from a deeper S-duct in the nose, re-profiled front splitter, and rear blown diffuser. Shrink-wrapped 4568 mm bodywork sits on a 1952 mm-wide stance only 1213 mm tall, yielding a muscular yet compact silhouette that advertises purpose before the engine fires.
Engineering & Weight Reduction
Carbon-fiber bodywork, optional 20-inch forged wheels and extensive use of Lexan shaved mass to an official 1500 kg dry—lighter by 90 kg versus the 488 GTB. The rear titanium roll-bar, inconel exhaust manifold and optional single-nut wheels betray its direct translation of GT3 racing hardware.
Legacy
Serving as the missing link between Maranello’s road cars and the 488 GT3/488 GTE racers, the Pista influenced the outright dominance of the 488 platform on circuits worldwide, while establishing the blueprint for track-focused derivatives that followed.
