Developed in just one season’s lead time, the 315 S was engineered specifically to challenge Maserati’s 450S and defend Ferrari’s reputation at classic endurance events such as the 1957 Mille Miglia.
Design & construction
Using the proven tubular chassis layout from its 290 MM predecessor, Ferrari increased swept capacity and refined aerodynamics, producing an open sports-racing spider that balanced lightness with the power required to outperform increasingly potent rivals.
