Dodge A100

History
Chrysler introduced the A100 in the United States for the 1964 model year to compete with the Ford Econoline and Chevrolet Corvair Greenbrier. It was also offered in Canada under the Fargo brand. Production ceased in 1970 when Chrysler shifted its van strategy to the larger B-series platform, a lineage that evolved into the Dodge Ram Van."
Design
The cab-forward layout placed the driver almost directly over the front axle, creating the A100’s stubby, squared-off hood and remarkably short overall length for its cargo capacity. At 2 000 mm wide and 1 900 mm tall, the compact proportions allowed easy maneuvering in town while maximizing interior volume across van and pickup variants."
Legacy
After seven short years, the A100 quietly left showrooms, yet its bold, cartoonish proportions made it a favorite on drag strips and in custom culture. Surviving examples now serve as period-correct surf vans, gasser drag trucks, and pop-culture cameos, keeping the A100 visible more than half a century after production ended."
