Fiat Freemont

Marketed from 2011 until production ended in 2020, the Fiat Freemont was Chrysler’s Europe-specific rebadge of the Dodge Journey. It gave Fiat showrooms an entry into the mid-size crossover segment after the van-shaped Fiat Ulysse bowed out.
Rebadged Dodge
Mechanically identical to the Dodge Journey, the Freemont kept the American sheetmetal and simply traded the Dodge cross-hair grille for a Fiat badge. Built alongside its twin in Toluca, Mexico, the model carried over the same 4 890 mm length and three-row seating package, offering left- and right-hand-drive configurations for global markets including Europe and Australia.
Specs at a Glance
Size stayed true to the donor car: 4 890 mm long, 1 880 mm wide and 1 720 mm tall on the same 2.9 m wheelbase. Engine choices—diesel 2.0-litre or a 3.6-litre Pentastar V6—depended on market, but every Freemont rolled on the same suspension and three-row interior layout that underpinned the Journey.
Brief Run & Quiet Exit
The badge-swap experiment lasted roughly nine years; Fiat quietly discontinued the Freemont in 2020 with no direct successor. Its removal cleared space for new crossovers already on Fiat’s own platforms.
