Slotting in to replace the long-running Chrysler Voyager, the Pacifica redefined the brand’s minivan offering when it debuted for the 2017 model year as a purpose-built people-mover aimed squarely at North-American families.
Design & Size
Stretching 5172 mm long, 2022 mm wide and 1777 mm tall, the Pacifica’s footprint is visibly larger than its Voyager predecessor, freeing up real room for three-row seating and generous cargo bays. A low belt-line and wide track give it a calmer, less top-heavy profile than traditional minivans, while large sliding doors ease access in tight parking spots.
Generations & Updates
Introduced in 2017, the Pacifica launched exclusively as a gasoline model, followed quickly by the Pacifica Hybrid (PHEV) that same year—Chrysler’s first plug-in hybrid in North America. A mild refresh for 2021 added the new instrument-panel design, upgraded infotainment and additional USB-C ports throughout the cabin, keeping the platform competitive halfway through its product cycle.
Position in the Chrysler Lineup
The Pacifica effectively merged two predecessors—the short-wheelbase Voyager and the longer Town & Country—into a single model with multiple trim lengths. By 2020, the Voyager badge returned on a de-contented Pacifica variant sold mainly to fleet buyers, making the upmarket Pacifica the flagship family hauler in Chrysler’s shrinking model range.
