Bugatti Type 35

Between 1924 and 1930 Bugatti turned out the Type 35 from its Molsheim works, quickly proving itself the most successful Grand Prix car of the decade and the template for the modern turnkey competition machine.
Design & Purpose
Bugatti did not simply prepare an existing chassis for racing; the Type 35 was conceived as a complete racing entity straight from the factory. Availability to private entries marked a radical shift—wealthy enthusiasts could buy a factory-level Grand Prix car straight off the line, a concept previously unheard of in European motorsport.
Triumphs on Track
Campaigned by the factory squad and a broad international field of private owners, the Type 35 stacked victories across 1924–1930. Its dominance ensured that the Bugatti badge became almost synonymous with Grand Prix success during this period.
Lasting Influence
By packaging proven race engineering into a commercially available chassis, the Type 35 established the idea of the production-based, turn-key competition car—a model which would influence manufacturers from Alfa Romeo to Aston Martin for decades.
