Rolls-Royce Phantom Coupé

Introduced in 2008 after a six-year hiatus in Rolls-Royce two-door motoring, the Phantom Coupé re-established the marque’s ultra-luxury grand-touring credentials. Built at Goodwood alongside the saloon and Drophead versions, it quietly succeeded the long-running Rolls-Royce Corniche with a distinctly modern take on hand-built opulence.
Design & Coachwork
Stretching 5609 mm nose to tail and spanning 1987 mm, the Coupé adopts the Phantom VII architecture without compromise. Suicide doors frame a pillar-less side profile, allowing the 2+2 cabin to flow seamlessly into a rakish roofline that ends in a coachline-finished rear deck. Chrome brightwork, book-matched veneers and the signature Parthenon grille ensure every inch matches Rolls-Royce’s bespoke brief.
Performance & Refinement
Under the 2580 kg aluminium-and-steel shell sits a 6.75-litre naturally-aspirated V12 producing 338 kW (453 hp) and 720 N·m. An eight-speed ZF transmission, air suspension and adaptive dampers deliver waft achieved only by Rolls-Royce. Despite nearly 2.6 tonnes, the flagship coupé glides from 0–100 km/h in 5.8 seconds while preserving library levels of cabin silence.
Legacy
Production ended quietly around 2016 with no direct successor, making the Phantom Coupé the last 2-door Rolls-Royce to ride on BMW’s ‘L85’ platform. Today it occupies a unique collector niche: the only modern Rolls with an honest hard-top that still references classic British coachwork cues.
