The BMW iX1 is a battery-electric subcompact luxury crossover that serves as BMW’s entry-level EV SUV, slotting beneath the established iX3 and carrying the brand’s eDrive technology into the most compact X model range.
Design & Dimensions
At 4 500 mm long, 1 845 mm wide and 1 642 mm tall, the iX1 follows the X1’s footprint almost exactly, keeping the short overhangs, high window line and two-box silhouette expected from a compact crossover. BMW’s closed kidney grille, blue accent trim and aero-optimized wheels visually flag its fully-electric powertrain.
Market Position
Positioned as BMW’s smallest EV crossover, the iX1 directly competes with the Volvo EX30 and Audi Q4 e-tron while offering loyal X1 owners an electric transition path within the same showroom. It was the first battery-electric model developed from the second-generation UKL/FAAR platform.
How to Read the Range
BMW markets the iX1 in single-motor xDrive30L and dual-motor xDrive30 specifications: both combine fifth-generation eDrive motors with 64.7–66.5 kWh (usable) lithium-ion packs for WLTP ranges between 438–475 km. Chassis dynamics mirror the combustion X1 with optional adaptive dampers and lowered M Sport suspension.
