English version
BMW’s first battery-electric flagship, the i7 is the zero-emission twin of the seventh-generation 7 Series and delivers limousine space with EV silence. Introduced from 2022 onward, it slots directly into BMW’s line-up as the battery counterpart to both petrol and plug-in hybrid 7 Series models and previews where the brand’s luxury segment is headed.
Design & Dimensions
Sharing its aluminium-intensive ‘CLAR’ structure with the combustion 7 Series, the i7 stretches 5.39 m long and 1.95 m wide, standing 1.54 m tall. That makes it 30 mm shorter in height than the traditional 7 Series yet visually identical from the A-pillar forward, distinguished mainly by blanked-off grilles and blue accent trim. Inside, the optional 31-inch Theatre Screen folds from the roof, turning the rear cabin into a private cinema.
Electric Powertrain & Weight
Despite tipping the scales at 2,640 kg with its high-voltage battery, BMW mounts the pack low in the floor, preserving the familiar luxury-saloon ride height. Dual electric motors provide all-wheel drive, while adaptive air suspension and rear-wheel steering aim to make the mass disappear in daily driving. Regenerative braking can recoup up to 195 kW under deceleration.
Variants & Trims
Launch spec centred on the i7 xDrive60, offering the longest published range before the 2023 addition of the 650-hp M70 xDrive flagship. Both mirror the trim ladder of their combustion siblings—Base, Excellence, M Sport—with the option of 18-way adjustable executive rear seats and Bowers & Wilkins 4D audio.
