The BMW i4 brought BMW's first battery-electric drivetrain to the compact executive class in 2021, adding a sleek five-door liftback to the growing i sub-brand lineup.
Design
BMW packages the i4 in a 4 783 mm-long, 1 852 mm-wide five-door liftback with coupé-like proportions at just 1 448 mm tall. Marketed as a “four-door coupé,” the silhouette pairs a low roofline with a practical rear hatch.
Development & Launch
The project began publicly at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show with the BMW i Vision Dynamics concept. Four years later, the final production vehicle debuted in March 2021 and reached dealerships worldwide as a 2022 model-year offering.
Variants
Early sales have already shown multiple trim levels, including the first battery-electric M Performance model engineered by BMW’s motorsport division, giving buyers a choice of outputs and battery sizes within the i4 family.
