Slotting between the tail-happy VAZ-2108 and the newer LADA Kalina, the AvtoVAZ VAZ 2113 is the short-lifecycle facelift coupe that kept Russian small-car sales alive in the mid-2000s while bridging two generations of technology.
Evolution & Market Role
Building on the basic VAZ-2108 platform that dated from 1984, the 2113 refresh arrived roughly two decades after its progenitor. Its brief duty was to modernize the aging Samara family with sharper styling and updated interior switchgear just long enough to keep showrooms fresh until the all-new LADA Kalina took over in the mid-2010s.
Design
The 2113 kept the unmistakable three-door hatch profile, but its front clip gained a twin-headlamp mask and hexagonal grille that hinted at European contemporaries. Wheelbase was unchanged, yet black plastic cladding on bumpers and sills masked the narrow 1 650 mm width while presenting a subtly brawnier stance.
Dimensions & Practicality
With a 4 122 mm overall length and a 1 402 mm height, the coupe-oriented layout delivered tight urban maneuverability and 300 litres of rear cargo once the split seat was folded. For young drivers running taxis or delivery gigs in cramped post-Soviet cities, compact footprints mattered more than outright space.
