From 2004 through 2008, Audi kept the mid-size executive-sedan formula sharp with the A4 B7—an evolution of the B6 that set the stage for the completely new B8 generation to follow.
History & Update Cycle
Launched in 2004 and sold until 2008, the A4 B7 acted as a comprehensive mid-cycle refresh of the outgoing B6 rather than an all-new platform. Positioned between the fully fresh A4 B8 that arrived for 2009, the B7 bridged technology updates and styling cues that would define later Audis.
Design & Technology
Externally, sharper lines replaced the softer surfacing of the B6, highlighted by a bolder single-frame grille flanked by revised headlamps. Inside, upgraded materials and an available color driver-information display carried the cabin forward without a wholesale redesign, making the B7 feel contemporary while re-using the B6’s basic architecture.
