The Audi A6 e-tron is the battery-electric evolution of Audi’s executive sedan, unveiled on 31 July 2024 and now on sale for the 2024 model year. It moves the midsize luxury class into Audi’s full-EV portfolio without changing the A6 nameplate that buyers already trust.
Design and Dimensions
Sitting lower and wider than the combustion A6, the A6 e-tron stretches 4 960 mm long and spans 1 960 mm across while maintaining a sleek 1 440 mm roofline. The result is a drag-focused silhouette that hints at upcoming Sportback and Avant body styles yet to reach the market.
Battery-Electric Architecture
Built on Audi’s new PPE (Premium Platform Electric) skateboard, the car allocates space to a flat battery pack beneath the floor—details of capacity and range were not disclosed at launch—while freeing up the nose for a second luggage compartment typical of electric drivetrains.
Reception and Launch Timing
Revealed in concept form on 31 July 2024, the production A6 e-tron arrived the same year as the brand’s direct challenge to both the BMW i5 and Mercedes EQE. Order books opened shortly after the unveiling, signalling Audi’s desire to keep the midsize EV race on its own timetable rather than waiting for traditional model cycles.
