ისტორია

Launched in 2000, the Acura MDX brought three-row luxury to the Japanese midsize SUV segment and quickly settled in as America’s second-best seller in the class. It replaced the four-wheel-drive Isuzu Trooper with a more road-focused, premium footprint, cementing Acura’s move toward family-oriented SUVs.
History
Honda introduced the MDX as a 2001 model at the North American International Auto Show, positioning it above the five-passenger SLX replacement. The name—"Multi-Dimensional" luxury—signaled roomy seating for up to seven without resorting to truck-style architecture. Sales took off in North America, turning the MDX into Acura’s volume leader and a fixture in suburban driveways.
Design
From the outset, the MDX measured 4.8 m in length, four centimeters longer than the original RX yet still city-garage friendly. Inside, a flat floor created three usable rows, while leather seating, soft-touch plastics, and dual-zone climate control set a tone well above mainstream Honda crossovers. Subsequent generations refined the look with Acura’s shield grille, jeweled headlamps, and sharper creases without abandoning the practical roofline.
Performance
Engine choices have evolved from the 2001–2006 3.5-liter V6 producing 240 hp to today’s turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 making up to 355 hp in Type S form. Every generation has offered Super Handling All-Wheel Drive, sending torque left-to-right to sharpen cornering response without the weight penalties of traditional 4WD systems.
