History
November 1995 marked the birth of the first LX 450, the brand’s debut in the SUV segment. Launched two months later, it set precedent for pairing Land Cruiser mechanical substance with Lexus-grade luxury. The second-generation LX 470 replaced it in 1998 and carried production to 2007, followed by the third generation revealed in New York in April 2007. A completely new fourth generation arrived in October 2021, continuing the lineage now nearly three decades old.
Design & Philosophy
Every LX generation has mirrored the Land Cruiser’s ladder-frame toughness, yet wrapped in quiet, leather-lined cabins fitted with cutting-edge technology. Third generation, 2008-2021 (LX 570): gained 5.7-litre engine, eight seats, and advanced craw-control. Fourth generation, 2021-present (LX 600/LX 500d outside some markets): twin-turbo petrol and diesel options, independent rear suspension, and an all-new T24A engine family debut.
