Kia Joice

Introduced in 1999 and phased out around 2002, the Kia Joice was Kia’s first attempt at offering a compact multi-purpose vehicle that combined passenger-car comfort with flexible, van-like space. It bridged the gap between traditional sedans and later dedicated MPVs such as its direct successor, the Kia Carens.
Design & Dimensions
With its boxy, upright silhouette, the Joice maximized interior volume within modest exterior measurements: 4,570 mm long, 1,720 mm wide and 1,720 mm tall. The near-one-meter roof height gave occupants an SUV-like seating position while keeping the footprint small enough for urban maneuverability.
Market Role & Succession
Marketed primarily in Europe and select Asian markets, the Joice served as Kia’s answer to the rising demand for compact family carriers in the late 1990s. After only a three- to four-year cycle, Kia replaced it with the more refined Kia Carens, signaling a shift toward dedicated, purpose-built MPV platforms.
