Overview
Little survives in official archives about the Kia Concord beyond its basic silhouette: a conventional three-box sedan sold only on the Korean peninsula. What persists is its name—Concord—used by Kia right at the moment the company was shifting from simple knock-down kits to its own engineering identity. It sat above the compact Pride and below the executive Potentia in the lineup, anchoring the core midsize segment before Kia rebranded its passenger-car range.
Market Position & Replacement
Positioned as Kia’s mainstream family sedan, the Concord lacked export programs and left few footprints overseas. When the Kia Credos debuted in the late 1990s—sharing the same marketplace but with modern styling and upgraded features—the Concord quietly bowed out, handing over showroom space without an official farewell.
Legacy
Although overshadowed by later Kia flagships, the Concord represents one of the last models completed before the 1997 Asian financial crisis froze development budgets. It therefore forms the final chapter in Kia’s all-Korean sedan story before global partnerships and the Hyundai acquisition reshaped everything that followed.
