Built in just 53 examples between 1951 and 1953, the Jaguar C-Type was the firm’s first purpose-built competition machine, conceived to win races rather than please road-car buyers.
Competition Heritage
Jaguar created the C-Type (the ‘C’ for Competition) as a lightweight evolution of the XK 120, specifically to contest the 24 Hours of Le Mans. It scored the marque’s maiden victory there in 1951 and collected a second win in 1953, establishing Jaguar as a serious endurance-racing force.
Technical Leap
