Known as the JX right up to 2014, the Infiniti QX60 stretches the Murano platform into a three-row, family-friendly luxury crossover that has served as Infiniti’s mid-size SUV anchor for more than a decade.
History
Infiniti debuted the JX at the 2012 North American International Auto Show, positioning it between the compact EX35 and the full-size QX56. The JX badge lasted just two model years before Nissan aligned all Infiniti SUVs under the “QX” naming convention, making the 2014 model the first officially badged QX60.
Design
At 5 034 mm long, 1 960 mm wide, and 1 770 mm tall, the QX60 is one of the longer mid-size crossovers in its class. The elongated wheelbase—carried over from the Pathfinder—enables a third row without the footprint of a traditional ladder-frame SUV. Flowing lines and a low roofline keep the proportions closer to a large wagon than to a boxy seven-seater.
Platform & Engineering
Beneath its polished surface sits a stretched version of the Nissan Murano’s front-drive architecture, also used for the Pathfinder. Unibody construction and available all-wheel drive give the QX60 the car-like ride and efficiency shoppers wanted while retaining a 5 000-pound tow rating and seating for seven.
