Infiniti QX

History
The QX badge first appeared in 1996 on the QX4, a Japan-market rebadged Nissan Terrano/Pathfinder that helped Infiniti enter the mid-size SUV boom in North America. Over the next two decades the brand expanded the range to seven separate lines—QX30, QX50, QX55, QX60, QX70, QX80 and the upcoming QX65—mirroring Infiniti’s numeric nomenclature for its sedans and coupes. Each introduction coincided with either a generational update of an existing model or an all-new platform aimed at bridging European and American tastes.
Model Range
The current catalogue spans front-wheel-drive based crossovers such as the QX30 and QX50, rear- or all-wheel-drive premium QX55 coupe-SUV, three-row family QX60, and the body-on-frame V8 QX80 that remains the range-topping flagship. This stratified lineup lets Infiniti compete from the BMW X1/X3 segment up to the full-size Mercedes-Benz GLS and Cadillac Escalade classes with clear size and price differentiation.
Legacy
Despite sharing architecture and powertrains with parent Nissan’s platforms, the QX family knitted Infiniti’s identity into the fastest-growing global segments. With every model refresh the badge has served as a rolling testbed for Infiniti’s design language, autonomous tech and variable-compression engines, keeping the marque in the conversation as traditional sedan sales declined.
