Unveiled on 13 October 2016, the fifth-generation CR-V grew slightly to accommodate both 5-seat and 7-seat interior layouts, though North America remained strictly a 5-seat market. The added length and wider rear doors aimed directly at families trading up from sedans, while bolder surfacing and LED lighting signaled a more premium stance.
Generations and Lifespan
Production ran from 2016 through 2023 before being replaced by the next iteration. Compared with its fourth-generation predecessor, this version emphasized modular seating, globally consistent chassis tuning, and higher-grade interior materials to fend off a tighter segment of rivals.
