დიზაინის დასაწყისი

Unveiled at the 2005 DaimlerChrysler Innovation Symposium in Washington, D.C., the Mercedes-Benz Bionic is a single, biomimetic concept that translates the proportions of the yellow boxfish into automotive form. Its fish-inspired aerodynamics and experimental SCR exhaust system delivered an 80 % cut in nitrogen-oxide output.
Design Genesis
Rather than chasing traditional wind-tunnel curves, Mercedes-Benz engineers studied the yellow boxfish (Ostracion cubicus) for its surprisingly low drag. The resulting 4.24 m micro-van keeps the boxfish’s angular sides and hexagonal cross-section, curving only the edges to manage airflow without the visual softness of soap-bar shapes.
Clean-Air Powertrain
Beneath the inventive body sits a production-ready diesel assisted by the car-maker’s then-new selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system. In testing, tail-pipe nitrogen-oxide emissions plunged by four-fifths versus comparable diesels of the day.
Legacy
Though never slated for showroom duty, the Bionic has remained on the auto-show circuit for two decades as a rolling test-bed for both unconventional aerodynamics and aggressive NOx reduction chemistry.
