Ford F-Series (fourteenth generation)

Unveiled for the 2021 model year, the fourteenth-generation Ford F-Series broadened the brand’s light-duty range by adding both hybrid and all-electric variants for the very first time, re-shaping expectations for America’s best-selling truck line.
Model Year Launch
Arriving as a 2021 redesign, this generation succeeds the thirteenth-generation F-Series pickups. Positioned above the Ranger and below the larger Super Duty models, the new F-150 carries the core cab, bed, and chassis architecture forward but introduces critical electrified drivetrains alongside updated gasoline powerplants.
Electrified Powertrains
Ford broke new ground by offering the first mass-produced electrified F-150. The F-150 Hybrid blended an eco-friendly V6 with an electric motor, while the F-150 Lightning EV, which began production in 2022 and ended in 2025 (for this 14th gen), delivered zero-emission torque with on-board power for job sites.
Legacy & Impact
By integrating electrification into the most popular vehicle platform in the United States, Ford normalized battery-powered and hybrid pickups for mainstream buyers. The Lightning’s rapid run gave fleets and retail users a bridge between conventional full-size trucks and future electric offerings.
