Heritage Reborn
For decades, "Capri" meant a sleek European coupe aimed at buyers who couldn’t stretch to a Mustang. After a 35-year hiatus, Ford revived the badge for 2024 yet swapped rear-drive coupe proportions for a five-door battery-electric crossover platform. The result keeps hallmark long-hood, short-deck proportions while sitting higher and offering hatchback practicality.
Design and Identity
The Capri EV wears a clamshell hood, full-width LED light bar, and pronounced wheel-arch sculpting that consciously echoes the 1969 fastback. Recycled PET fabric and recycled ocean plastic trim underline the eco focus, while a panoramic glass roof replaces the classic louvers.
Performance Snapshot
Dual-motor all-wheel-drive versions deliver around 335 hp and 0-100 km/h in roughly 5.3 seconds, backed by a 79 kWh usable battery good for 627 km WLTP range in the most efficient trim. Standard 150 kW DC charging adds ~100 km in 10 minutes.
Market Positioning
Slotted between the Puma EV and Explorer EV in Ford’s European line-up, the Capri EV targets buyers who want coupe looks without sacrificing crossover space. Launch markets are Germany, UK and the Nordics, with online ordering and 8-year battery warranty as standard.
