Design and Drivetrain
Built on Ford’s T6 body-on-frame platform, the new Bronco offers two- and four-door configurations with fully removable doors and roof panels—an unmistakable nod to classic open-air Broncos. Base 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder and optional 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 engines pair with either a 7-speed manual or 10-speed automatic, while electronic locking differentials, disconnecting sway bars, and the advanced G.O.A.T. drive modes underpin its off-road hardware.

Ford expanded the Bronco name into a sub-brand: alongside the core mid-size SUV launched for 2021, the company introduced the Bronco Sport, a unibody compact crossover derived from the Escape platform, and the future 2025 Bronco New Energy for China. Despite the shared badge, only the 2021 onward body-on-frame model is considered the line’s sixth generation.
Early Impact
Within weeks of reveal, Ford secured over 150,000 reservations for the sixth-generation Bronco, setting a company record and forcing production increases. Press outlets quickly crowned it a direct Wrangler rival, praising its choice of advanced 4WD hardware and retro styling cues that echo the original '66 model.
