Between 1939 and 1947 Dodge rolled out a wholesale rethink of its commercial lineup, the T-, V-, and W-Series trucks marketed as "Job-Rated" haulers tailored to specific vocational duties. These rigs brought galvanized-steel cabs, improved weight ratings, and a sleeker art-deco look to American roads just as wartime demand exploded.

The program debuted for 1939 as the T-Series, moved to the V-Series in 1940, and settled into the W-Series from 1941 to 1947. All three generations are grouped under the popular "Job-Rated" umbrella, Dodge’s term for configuring chassis, wheelbases, and powertrains to match exact job requirements rather than offering one-size-fits-all units.
Design & Engineering
A one-piece galvanized-steel cab replaced the previous multi-piece construction, cutting corrosion and assembly time. Sloping front fenders, a crowned hood, and bold horizontal grille bars gave these trucks a distinctive art-deco presence, while wider track and stronger ladder frames increased payload capacity across the light- and medium-duty spectrum.
Legacy
Though Dodge later moved to letter-based model designations (C-Series, etc.), the 1939-1947 "Job-Rated" line established the brand’s reputation for vocational-specific trucks and provided many of the chassis and drivetrain components later militarized for World War II Dodge WC vehicles.
