English version
Unveiled in concept form at the January 2002 North American International Auto Show, the Dodge Ram SRT-10 arrived in 2003 as a 2004-model-year sport pickup that mashed supercar hardware into a full-size pickup body. Just 10,046 examples were built, giving it cult status among Viper-engined collectors.
Genesis
Dodge took its workhorse Ram 1500 and installed the 8.3-liter V-10 heart of the Dodge Viper. The concept broke cover in Detroit in January 2002; 20 months later the production version rolled off the line wearing the same outrageous stance and ram-air hood that stole the show on the show floor.
Design
Beyond the fiberglass power-bulge hood, the SRT-10 swapped the Ram’s standard grille for a deeper front fascia, added 22-inch wheels hiding vented rotors, and capped things with a tall rear spoiler atop the short-bed’s tailgate. The look was pure track-day bravado grafted onto a pickup silhouette.
Legacy
With single-digit production years and a halo engine normally reserved for the Viper, the Ram SRT-10 remains the loudest, fastest footnote in Dodge truck history and an early blueprint for factory performance pickups that followed.
