Launched in the late 2000s, the Riich M1 is a Chery-brand city car aimed at China’s emerging affordable-automobility market, notable for being the first model released under Chery’s short-lived premium Riich sub-brand.
Design & Dimensions
With exterior measurements of 3601 mm length, 1587 mm width and 1527 mm height, the Riich M1 wraps supermini space into a footprint barely longer than many kei cars. Tall sides and upright proportions hint at maximising interior volume for Chinese urban traffic and ever-tight parking bays.
Market Role
Introduced under the Riich nameplate, the M1 acted as Chery’s spearhead into a segment previously dominated by joint-venture micros from the likes of Suzuki and Chevrolet. Though Riich lasted only a few model cycles, the M1 succeeded in seeding Chery’s reputation for compact-value engineering before the sub-brand dissolved into the main Chery line-up.
