Since 2016, Chinese automaker Chery has sold the Arrizo 5, an affordable compact sedan that quietly anchors the brand’s passenger-car lineup while undergoing two quiet rebadges, showing how fast-moving China’s value segment can be.
Design & Dimensions
Sized squarely in the C-segment, the Arrizo 5 measures 4 572 mm long, 1 825 mm wide and 1 482 mm tall—dimensions similar to Toyota Corollas of the same generation. The clean three-box silhouette carries conventional trunk proportions and a modest chrome grille flanked by projector headlamps, aiming for understated rather than flashy.
Generations & Name Changes
Originally launched in 2016 as the Arrizo 5, the sedan was briefly renamed Arrizo EX for model-years 2019–2020 before returning to the original title. A more premium spin-off, the Arrizo 6 (later Arrizo GX), debuted at the 2018 Beijing Auto Show on the same platform. Prior to the 2021 facelift, this upscale version received its third moniker, becoming the Arrizo 5 Plus.
Platform Spread
Rather than replace the Arrizo 5 outright, Chery leveraged the platform across price tiers. Core Arrizo 5 models focus on value, while the Arrizo 6/GX/5 Plus line serves buyers seeking larger screens, turbocharged engines and extra features within the same footprint, maximizing factory tool utilization and market reach.
